We are currently studying Pacific South America: Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador.
a. We are reading section 1: Physical Features /study guide and vocabulary.
b. This Friday we will start watching Discovery Education Videos on Chile, Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador; each video includes a video guide that needs to be answered in class.

Homework March 21st

Investigate the following,
7(1) Which Caribbean Islands are Dutch colonies today? locate them on a map.
7(2) Which Caribbean Islands are French colonies today? locate them on a map.
7(3) What's the current population of Puerto Rico? Who's the governor? How is he/she elected?
7(4) Read the information on this link
http://www.mrdowling.com/710-slavery.html and write five facts about slavery in the Caribbean Islands.

Abstract: McKenzie suggests the use of green ink to help student differentiate between the ideas they have collected and the new ideas they have built in reaction to those inspirations (this is a paraphrase of McKenzie's words and should be credited to him).
Reminds me a bit of art with "found objects." Here we have "found ideas" and "fresh ideas." I like students having to keep them separate. I could then look over their shoulders while they did research to see what kinds of balance might emerge. It might change how I did assessment?

7(2)What is the country's area in km? to what U.S State can you compare it to?

7(3) What is the name of Mexico's current President? What is the current population of the country?

7(4) Draw or Print a picture of the National flag and Describe it. (color meanings, etc)
